* Font size – The headline must stand out from everything else. Use a larger bolder font, but definitely nothing too flowery. You want readers to see it, not grimace at it and click away.

* Use keywords – What is the page essentially about? Utilise the keyword so that the readers know what to expect.

* Use a link – When somebody mouses over the headline they know it is clickable. The link can point to the homepage, a site map or another useful location to visitors.
